NEW PROGRAMME - AUGUST 2026
Train to compete
A year-round competition swimming programme for young athletes aged 7 to 12 who have reached Swiss Aquatics Level 6 and want to take their swimming to the next level.
COMPETITION SWIMMING
From water-safe to competitive swimmer
Swim Verbier is excited to introduce a competitive swimming division starting in August 2026. This division is aimed at swimmers who have attained their level 6 Swiss Aquatics and higher and are between the ages of 7 and 12 years.
By choosing to swim competitively, we believe our swimmers will find even greater enjoyment in their swimming as we focus on enhanced technique across all four strokes – crawl, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke – as well as speed and strength training, with opportunities to represent our club in races across the canton.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Is your child ready?
Competition swimming requires a foundation of skills and commitment. Here's what we look for before a swimmer joins the programme.
Level 6+ Swiss Aquatics
A gentle introduction to the water. Building comfort, trust and first water skills through play in a safe, small-group environment.
Aged 7 to 12
The programme is designed for children between 7 and 12 years old. This is the optimal age range for developing competitive swimming foundations.
Commitment
Swimmers must commit to a minimum of one training session per week, year-round. Two sessions per week is recommended for those aiming to compete at cantonal level.
THE PROGRAMME
What your child will learn
Our competition swimming programme is designed to develop well-rounded swimmers across all four strokes, with a strong emphasis on technique, endurance and race preparation.
Training focus areas
Each session is structured to develop specific skills. Training plans evolve throughout the year to prepare swimmers for competitions and continuous improvement.
🏊 Technique
All four competitive strokes broken down and refined. Starts, turns and finishes for each stroke.
⚡ Speed
Sprint training, reaction time, and race pace work to build competitive speed in the water.
💪 Strength
In-water strength exercises to develop power in the pull, kick and core for each stroke.
🫁 Endurance
Longer sets and interval training to build cardiovascular fitness and stamina for races.

RACING
Futura cantonal competitions
Futura competitions are the entry-level competitive swimming events organised by Swiss Aquatics at cantonal level. They are designed specifically for young swimmers who are beginning their competitive journey.
Children who demonstrate skill, dedication, and consistent attendance will have the opportunity to represent Swim Verbier at these events. It's a fantastic way for young athletes to experience the thrill of racing, set personal goals, and be part of a team.
The Future series typically comprises three competitions per year (in December, February and April) and one regional final (in June). The dates and venues for the races will be announced once they have been confirmed.
